MiddleState or Inclinations?

Morning Everyone,

How is life going on? Enjoying to core I guess. All is well at my end too.

I was listening to Robinson Crusoe the other day, not in person though, and found something interesting. Here is a small excerpt, from the book:

Situation: Father of Robinson Crusoe, is trying to persuade his son from going to sea. Kindly go through the same:

He told me it was men of desperate fortunes on one hand, or of aspiring, superior fortunes on the other, who went abroad upon adventures, to rise by enterprise, and make themselves famous in undertakings of a nature out of the common road; that these things were all either too far above me or too far below me; that mine was the middle state, or what might be called the upper station of low life, which he had found, by long experience, was the best state in the world, the most suited to human happiness, not exposed to the miseries and hardships, the labour and sufferings of the mechanic part of mankind, and not embarrassed with the pride, luxury, ambition, and envy of the upper part of mankind. He told me I might judge of the happiness of this state by this one thing - viz. that this was the state of life which all other people envied; that kings have frequently lamented the miserable consequence of being born to great things, and wished they had been placed in the middle of the two extremes, between the mean and the great; that the wise man gave his testimony to this, as the standard of felicity, when he prayed to have neither poverty nor riches.

Well, what have you got to say about this train of thoughts?  Is the middle state, the upper station of low life, so blissful? Doesn't everyone want to have superior fortunes? Then, why on earth is the middle station so good? My oldman also thinks about current life all the time and doesn't want to venture into something unknown, doesn't want to give head to calling and inclination to particular hobby. Many a people, feel it is good to just go on with lives as they come. What have you got to say? Inclinations?? Hobbies?? Middle state?? Which one is better? What is your calling?

The Second Campaign Challenge -- my imago

Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone is having nice time. Well, Now is the time for the second campaign challenge of Rach Writes.

The Challenge is:
Write a blog post in 200 words or less, excluding the title. It can be in any format, whether flash fiction, non-fiction, humorous blog musings, poem, etc. The blog post should:
  • include the word "imago" in the title
  • include the following 4 random words: "miasma," "lacuna," "oscitate," "synchronicity,"
If you want to give yourself an added challenge (optional and included in the word count), make reference to a mirror in your post.
For those who want an even greater challenge (optional), make your post 200 words EXACTLY!

"Why shouldn't I?" she questioned
"Synchronicity", answered John in his usual style
"There is no similarity between us. We are now distant” shouted back Jean, already burdened by thoughts of breakup going on in her head again and again I dunno where everything went wrong.
“Its lacuna? Nope. Not between us.” said John, making no effort to convince Jean.
“You stop using your fucking language skills with me. They make no sense.” I still remember how interesting this game was in the beginning. It makes me cry now.
Masima!!! Due to your friend Brutus I guess”, he said
Thanks to John for the constant need of dictionary, she thought, searching for the word Masima

“This conversation is not getting us anywhere. I feel like Oscitating” replied John yawning
“I fucking hate you and this is the end. I got to move-on now.” My mom's place would be right thought Jean
“Your Imago? You are becoming matured? Interesting” said John,  looking at his dick & thinking about ways of getting into Jean again.
"Yeah!! MY Imago!! Damn you" Shouted back a visible angry Jean, walking out of the room checking how messed up her hair is, using a hand held mirror.

Well, we exactly have two hundred words here, excluding the tile. Liked it? Could I convey the feelings? Let me know!!

Great Expectations -- Extract

Morning Everyone,

How are things going on at your end? I was just dreaming the other day, about my old school. In my dream, I was sitting in my English class, staring at my beautiful gorgeous English teacher while she was explaining something from Great Expectations book.

So, in honor of the dream, here is a small excerpt from the book: Pip, the MC, receives a letter saying that Joe would be visiting him the very next day.

I received this letter by the post on Monday morning, and therefore its appointment was for next day. Let me confess exactly with what feelings I looked forward to Joe's coming.

Not with pleasure, though I was bound to him by so many ties; no; with considerable disturbance, some mortification, and a keen sense of incongruity. If I could have kept him away by paying money, I certainly would have paid money. My greatest reassurance was that he was coming to Barnard's Inn, not to Hammersmith, and consequently would not fall in Bentley Drummle's way.
As the time approached I should have liked to run away, but the Avenger pursuant to orders was in the hall, and presently I heard Joe on the staircase. I knew it was Joe, by his clumsy manner of coming up stairs,--his state boots being always too big for him, and by the time it took him to read the names on the other floors in the course of his ascent. When at last he stopped outside our door, I could hear his finger tracing over the painted letters of my name, and I afterwards distinctly heard him breathing in at the keyhole.
Our eyes met, and all the "ir" melted out of that manly heart as he gave me his hand.

"Pip, dear old chap, life is made of ever so many partings welded together, as I may say, and one man's a blacksmith, and one's a whitesmith, and one's a goldsmith, and one's a coppersmith. Divisions among such must come, and must be met as they come. If there's been any fault at all to-day, it's mine. You and me is not two figures to be together in London; nor yet anywhere else but what is private, and be known, and understood among friends. It ain't that I am proud, but that I want to be right, as you shall never see me no more in these clothes. I'm wrong in these clothes. I'm wrong out of the forge, the kitchen, or off th' meshes. You won't find half so much fault in me if you think of me in my forge dress, with my hammer in my hand, or even my pipe. You won't find half so much fault in me if, supposing as you should ever wish to see me, you come and put your head in at the forge window and see Joe the blacksmith, there, at the old anvil, in the old burnt apron, sticking to the old work. I'm awful dull, but I hope I've beat out something nigh the rights of this at last. And so GOD bless you, dear old Pip, old chap, GOD bless you!"

You ever felt this way? Has something like this happened to you? You feel vaguely familiar with someone whom you used to like? You feel you are distant and would prefer not to meet them? What did you do then?

Worst Movies Ever -- Blog fest

Hello Everyone,

This post is in response to Worst Movies Ever Blog-fest on Alex J Cavanaugh. Well, I am wrong one to sign up for this blog-fest I guess. I mean, I don't watch many many movies. So here is my list:

1) Birdemic: Shock and Terror:
the story of a romance between the two leading characters, played by Alan Bagh and Whitney Moore when their little town is attacked by birds. The plot is non-sencial and the movie is fit for nothing!!

2)  Eragon:

While the book Eragon is a all time favorite of mine, the movie is fit for nothing. The plot changed, the concepts of myths and mythical races, elves, kulls and all such are removed. I hate this movie in particular

3) The Myth
The 2005 Hong Kong martial arts film has a stupid plot about immortality, re-birth and makes you bang your head against the screen for sure.

What do you feel about these movies? Checked them out??

Friday Flash Fiction Challenge

Hello Everyone,

This post is in response to Friday Flash Fiction challenge on The rules are simple:

  • Pick up any three words from the set of five random words.
  • Write a story in hundred word including the three random words. The set of five random words for this week are
 Here is my entry:

"Mom the blister is paining me!! Can I pop it? Please?"
"No Honey, You mustn't. You remember what the bishop told?"
"Yeah Mom!! But please. This is the fifth one on my hand"
“No John. You can’t. You don’t want lollipop?”  asked the confused mother. She was sure that the Bishop is bonkers. Like everyone else, she too was afraid to go against the Bishop, who is doing something crazy with the kid, in this alien land.

“We are migrants and black. We need to keep up with customs here. Bishop is the only doctor here” She assured herself.

What do you think about it? Do let me know!!

Wriing a novel - looking for plots??

 Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone has enjoyed your weekend and are making a great start for the week ahead by grace of God!! All is well @my end except that I didn't put much efforts on anything in the last week. Well, hoping that this week would be different.

So, are you planning to write a novel?  Have you already started a novel and trying to make some cool sub-plots? Then this article is for you. I was the other day, going through the web for cool sites to surf. I am now so addicted to Internet, that Wikipedia alone isn't sufficient to keep me engaged for more than a hour.

I was happy to find a interesting site Damm Interesting and the Interesting Thing of the Day. Both of them are awesome sites for the simple reason, that the articles in it are hand picked to catch the fantasy of readers. Many of the articles in Damn Interesting can become basis point for a sub-plot / technology used if you are writing  a military based / scientific fiction / fantasy novel.

  Check out cool articles likes

and lot more. Hope this helps you with your WIP / future projects / helps you in passing time every now and then!! Looking for more cool sites to read ?? Check them out here
Have you come across any cool sites? Where do you search sub-plots for your WIP? Where do you do research for weapons and technology for your WIP? What would you do when you dunno about the technology needed?

A man Walked In -- Flash Fiction challenge

Morning Everyone,

This is post is again in response to the flash fiction challenge of the TerribleMinds. All I need to do is make a story of 1000 words or more based on the photo prompt in their website. Here is my entry

"Man, how many times I got to tell you, Califonia is where all of our town folk must move. Don't you all hear about the Gold Rush?" grumbled Henry to Mary who was busy in her kitchen.

"We ain't no miners" came back the angry reply for the zillonth time

"That's why we need to go. Forty-niners are amasing wealth there. We got to bait them now. We can sell them anything and they all shall be ready to pay. One who has money, is always in need of proper hawker."

"Stop gibbering in front of me. We are a community understand. Speak up in the town hall and get everyone's ass moving."
"As hell. Of all persons, you know that they won't move. They got attached to this land and can never never move out. Our ancestors were nomads and the town folk settled down" fumed an angry Henry

"Don't find excuses. Convince them Henry and we all will be rich, our kids and all."

"I know I know, use words of greater purpose. Appeal to thier higher purpose of providing for future generations and my foot. Don't feed me with that shit. I had enuough of it"

"Henry, don't you understand the motto of our community?"

"Yeah Yeah!! Strive hard and try to give our kids a better start than what we had. I know it all by-heart.  I have been singing the motto all throught-out my life at every social gathering of the town and everyday in the  bar."

"God damn you, don't bug me. Cooking is a hard chore. Let me do it in peace. Remember, A dog gains attention by barking. So make some noise to get attention of the town folk"

"Want me to shout and beg on the streets? Is that what I am to do?"

"Fug you man!! Do whatever you got to! Now get the hell out of this place and let me do my cooking in peace"

Henry started, walking his way to the local bar. Well, the local bar is of-course where the town folk assemble.

All that I need is some attention. I need to convince a few men. What on the earth am I gonna do? thought Henry walking!!

"Check out!! Check out!! New candle which gives out lot of light and let me warn, be-careful it can create fire" shouted a Jack, the fifteen year old eccentric who experiments with fireworks.

"God damn you man!! All i need is this seeing the new candle give out flames and pink light in the evening light!!!" Shouted Henry in amazement.

"Yeah Yeah, come-on man!! Cheapest fare"

"Ha Ha!! Bless you man!!" shouted Henry with the glee of a kid throwing a ten dollar bill at Jack.

"Man, this ain't so cheap!! You owe me more"  shouted back Jack, running to the local baking house to buy some food for himself.
And the door of the bar swung open, to everyone's astonishment, a man walked in  holding a flare in his hand.

The Door Swung Open -- Campaign First Challenge

Morning Everyone,

This post is in response to the First Campaigner Challenge from the Writers Platform Building Campaign. All I need to do, is write a Short Story / Flash Fiction of 200 words. The first four words must be "The Door Swung Open".

    Here is my entry:

The door Swung open making its characteristic CREEEKKK sound, in the night filled with eerie silence.  My ears strained to hear, above the thumping of my  heart for any sign of trouble.

Tired I am running and running away from the foe I can't see

"I know, you are here PUSSY!! My PUSSY can't run away from me!! Can she?? Ha HA" came the shrill laughter from voice so deep, so metallic & so metallic that my heart skipped a beat. I didn't see anyone entering from the door!!

My senses and body are moaning already, under the strain. I just want to end this.I wan't to recollect my training and track him down!!  I want to wake up, saying this is a bad dream!  Alas, this isn't a dream.

   Boom Boom Boom

The paper-thin wooden floor burst into splinters and is getting dyed red.! My heart raced, listening to the rifle. He shot someone, another of those poor souls shot to death, while I am hiding under the bed here! But whom?  Is it me next?

Has my end come? Will I have time to say my prayers?  Then, to my relief, he walked away away and the door shut close

A brief Guide to Life -- ZEN HABITS

Hello Everyone,
Hope everyone is enjoying life!! Well, I was kind of bored of late and was surfing the net about what to do when you are bored!! Came across the site ZEN HABITS.  Here is a post published on Zen Habits. Go through the same

a brief guide to life

‘A few strong instincts and a few plain rules suffice us.’~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Post written by Leo Babauta. Follow me on twitter or identica.
Life can be ridiculously complicated, if you let it. I suggest we simplify.
Thich Nhat Hanh’s quote, which I’ve stolen as this site’s subtitle, is the shortest guide to life you’ll ever need:
“Smile, breath, and go slowly.”
If you live your life by those five words, you’ll do pretty well. For those who need a little more guidance, I’ve distilled the lessons I’ve learned (so far) into a few guidelines, or reminders, really.
And as always, these rules are meant to be broken. Life wouldn’t be any fun if they weren’t.

the brief guide

less TV, more reading
less shopping, more outdoors
less clutter, more space
less rush, more slowness
less consuming, more creating
less junk, more real food
less busywork, more impact
less driving, more walking
less noise, more solitude
less focus on the future, more on the present
less work, more play
less worry, more smiles

The link to the article is here. Do you know any such website which I can keep going through, when I am bored? For now, I just found:

Let me know your suggestions!!

Flash Fiction Challenge -- Terrible Minds

Hello Everyone,

This post is in response to flash fiction challenge on Here are the rules

  • You got 100 words
  • Write a complete story, on revenge
  • Make the story as good as possible, so that the revenge builds along with story to burst out!!!
So, here is my stupid, silly but but original entry

To a Seaman, merciless looting is romance, uniformed men are company and stories which inspire chill are trophies, but I took to sees, for family, who would stick to each other, irrespective of anything.

I enjoyed the voyage always and stood strong for myself, for my heart and for my dreams, behind the skull and bones, on the decks of Moby, never bothering about count of barrels of rum needed.

Today, I am not on Moby. I am walking into hell to bite, more than what I can chew. I grew old and the strength of my youth left me. There is one man, for whom I am doing this, to tell him, that I wouldn't call him son again after his act of insolence.

What do you say? Can you understand the feelings? Have I conveyed? I don't think, people call it story right?? It is much like thoughts of a man right? Bear with me!!
Wanna read through other stories which I wrote for terribleminds?? Dig in here:
