How to make friends

This is a special topic which needs no justification. It’s through friends and acquaintances that life lights up. It’s through them that life becomes happy. In other words there is no need of justifying why I speak upon this topic. To know more upon this topic ask a teenager and you will know. Now I will speak not upon why friends are required but how to make them

As far as I know, & of all the men I know, every one fancies something or the other. Everyone has a fancy, check out, someone, wants latest gadgets, few girls wants costliest makeup’s and make over’s, some boys want six pack abs, others fancy pets, men want toys (I mean weapons after all they are the men’s toys) & I fancy writing such silly truths.

What next, man or woman, boy or girl & who-ever it is, without some or the other fancy are sure to be treated as an alien, left out from the society, left uncared & is in my sense truly an alien when either they doesn’t have or respect the fancy of the other person. Truly speaking a man with no fancy, a man with total work and no play…. are really aliens.

The fancies of course gave birth to what are called modern day’s clubs, social meetings & gatherings, they lead to rise and fall of kingdoms, they are the basic for ambitions & burning desires & so on & on. So when you don’t belong to any of them what are you an alien? Yes. Remember that it’s through these fancies & their dependents (I mean the clubs, gatherings) sociality, networking…do build, through them you make acquaintances, friends, mates….

I long time ago read a book titled as “how to win friends & influence people” by DALE CARNEGIE. This is a small extract from it:

“A rich man hired a young builder to work in his new mansion. One day as usual the rich man, early in the morning came out to give instructions for the day. Before leaving, the young builder with strong eagerness enquired about his pride possessions, his dogs which usually win good number of blue ribbons for him in the international dog shows. The rich man, taken back by the amount of interest showed by the builder immediately took him to his house. He displayed all his dogs’ one after the other and even presented one of the pup (worth several hundreds of dollars) to him. He also gave him a typed copy about how to feed the dog”

Here is the case, it’s the genuine interest of the builder in rich man’s fancy that gave him the prized dog, that won him the friendship of the rich man. So using the same technique you too can win friends and the technique is “try to show genuine interest in others fancy & you can count them as your friend” (don’t start scolding me if you soon adapt to that fancy).

Again its well noted fact that fancies, friends & companions with similar interests can make you cheerful, brighten up your life, increase your lifespan, relax you, make you a better human being….

As far as I believe young men are very good in this point, I mean the youth, not just boys or girls, they have their fancies, be cheerful in their gangs, are ready to listen to friends, always happy to hang out with friends, go for a game or two. But after that they turn into “hard core, money earning middle aged machines” here ends sociality, networking, fancies… and starts the miserable and painful life. No thanks.
If you ask me about the right fancy, I recommend you to become my die hard fan, keep on reading my books, keep on earning me fame & make me successful make my readers your acquaintances .So that’s the way to make friends. Show genuine interest in the other person and his fancies then count them as your friend. What are you waiting for find out the fancy of your boss get your due increments. Find your wife’s fancy add sparkle to your marriage, find a strangers fancy and increase your friend circle…….

Well this article is a essay, I wrote during high school, after I read the "how to win friends and influence people" by Dale Cargine for a competition.

Your Destiny

My old man sent the following message to me in mail. Felt it was cool and intend to share the same with the world.
--x--

You are what your deep driving desire is.
What your desire is, so is your will,
What your will is, so is your deed,
What your deed is, so is your destiny.

You would be what your destiny is.

--x--
Hope you love it. I love such quotes .. but they don't make me work any harder.

God is Missing -- My GoodNess

Two little boys, ages 8 and 10, are excessively mischievous.

They are always getting into trouble and their parents know if any mischief occurs in their town, the two boys are probably involved.

The boys’ mother heard that a preacher in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The preacher agreed, but he asked to see them individually.

The mother sent the 8 year old in the morning, with the older boy to see the preacher in the afternoon. The preacher, a huge man with deep booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, “Do you know where God is, son?”

The boy’s mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there wide-eyed with his mouth hanging open.

So the preacher repeated the question in an even sterner tone, “Where is God?! Again, the boy made no attempt to answer. The preacher raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy’s face and bellowed, “WHERE is GOD?!”

The boy screamed & bolted from the room, ran directly home & dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him. When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, “What happened?”

The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied, “We are in BIG trouble this time!” “GOD is missing, and they think WE did it!”

Wonderful joke?? Ain't it???

70 mm Smile

A hen lays eggs to live, tiger has to hunt, a buffalo has to give milk, a man has to choose his profession... but what does a dog do to live? It does only one thing and i.e. it has a broad, radiant 70 mm smile on its face, wags its tail happily & barks at the sight of its owner. For just doing this the dog is feed with rich meat & pity, I am feed with simple, plain bread & no meat after this lot of hardships. Why? (Jolt your answer on a paper)

Have you ever observed a small kid having fun, or the happiness in a child’s face eating a chocolate? If yes, then you probably remember that you want to see more and then you open up, positively comment about him & may feel happy. Have you ever wondered why?

True, it’s the smile & not the kid alone. I mean the rich, broad 70 mm smile on kids face. Not only that, have you ever wondered why young boys (or men) like to talk to girls? It’s usually the smile on girl’s face or in other words they have & make cheerful faces, smile &with a friendly companion laugh too. This excites a man to go closer to them, share a smile or two & start a chat. In other words a smile on your face brings you a good reputation to live.
Here is a real life experience; I had “I traverse a good deal everyday in the city buses of Hyderabad. One day I saw what a smile could do. I just exchanged if not a glimpse at least a smile in its nascent form with a grey haired gentleman to sheepishly conform him that he was on the right bus. And then it was all the same everyday’s tough journey. All the way I didn’t even speak to him. Only once or twice I did smile or gave cheerful look at him. The old man on his part remembered to wish me back when his destination arrived and was cheerful to do so.”

I wonder if a smile in its nascent form can do this with a stranger then what a 70 mm smile on your face radiating with happiness does mean to a friend of your’s? Ever tried to appreciate the happiness in the face of kid at the sight of chocolate? Doesn’t it make you happy? If yes, then your happiness can mean the same to a stranger, or even to your friend. So try to smile a little and appreciate this little thing. Next time try to show your big smile to watchman at the parking after a tiring day, try to tell the conductor that you don’t have the required change with at least a nascent smile sheepishly, try a smile before trying to start a chat with unknown girl, try to smile while your friend fumes his anger at you for almost missing his birthday party (believe me it works), try to smile while accepting your sheepish mistake pointed by your superior (but not at your fuming “BIG BOSS”) & see what it does . Try to smile after reading this article at least then you will like it and see its content.

Let me tell you a instance told to me by a friend of mine “he was a math’s teacher & one day he challenged the class on a difficult sum, one student in particular worked out the entire sum (if it were I, the sum would never reach its destination, but I would reach the detention room surely). But my friend fumed out that it was wrong. Now the girl smiled and said “sir, I may be wrong, as I usually am. But I would like to work out the sum again, this time with your help. Please tell me the instant I go wrong”. She reached the same conclusion again. She indirectly served my poor friend a severe, deep blow for his bad manners with a gentle smile.

My friend was lucky you know, if it were I in the girl’s position I would roar, went my anger, criticize him, argue with him but may or may not reach such honorable conclusion.

Why believe me or in others? Just look around yourself. Look at the hoardings, advertisements…. What do they feature cheerful models, actors… and not dull, sad, or dumb faces. Why? An add shows someone or other smiling, laughing rather than just manually reading out the special features in their products or in their services. Consider the “radio jockeys” the one who can make maximum number of people smile is the most successful one, hospitality demands it, others want it under the name of communication & interpersonal skills and tell me who says they want dull colleagues.

And to know how to smile, stop reading (at least for a while) go to your friend (possibly a girl), chat for sometime & watch the smile on her face (and don’t tell this to her) or give a kid a chocolate, or thank your cook (i.e. either your mum, girl, friend, spouse..) and tell them how deliciously they made your previous meal. See how it warms you. And try to enjoy it.
I think I now know why with a serious, grin face I was not able to make any girl friends or go for dating in my high school. I remember an incident during my pass out exams; I had to travel a long distance to reach the examination center (you know it’s extremely tiring and that too in the public transport system). This is the same plight for Mr.Prasad a companion of mine. Added to that my school made it mandatory for all the students to pay a visit to school during the examination days. We both didn’t follow the rule, and then on the last day we decided to visit the school. 50 yards away is the principal’s room. We both have not obliged her rule no.1. Prasad stoped warned me not to open my foul mouth whatever may happen. He told me just to smile for what all be asked & I just obeyed. Principal vent all her anger upon us for breaking the rule (all the time we were trying to smile) and then the principal smiled too (of course seeing both of us smile) at her helplessness.

See if a smile can soften the principal, then it can do the same with your superior (but don’t smile, giggle or laugh with others when you commit blunders, this may get you fired) & I now regret for arguing, rebelling & having a bitter school life rather than enjoying with all other students. (Now I am sure that you need not live like me)

Anyone, I mean anyone, I bet with a smile can open up others’ heart & get his or her business done, if not in the first attempt at least in the next. I am sure Ghori of Mohammad wouldn’t require 17 attempts to defeat his enemies if he had used his smile on face along with his sword rather than his sword alone.

Youth Of Nation , Variant

Some murmur, when the sky is clear,
and is wholly bright to view upon.
Oh! It’s the trumpets clangor,
with loud shrills of anger.

Everything is fair in love and war,
for the sake of fame, of its winner.
But what about the warm complaining tears,
that discover that they have to leave their lives and lovers.

Glories of our blood and state,
are shadows not substial things.
There is no armor against fate,
Death lays its hands on icy kings.

The youth of nation, when you die unknown,
and about your deeds, few could know.
It is in you to head to peace,
than war for me, you n everyone else.

Thy Judgment

Hello Everyone,
I just came across a fantastic rally for the poets. They call it as Thursday Poets Rally. Thanks Promising Poets Parking Lot for introducing the rally to me.  So, here is my poem for this rally.

--x--
Look not upon my evil qualities,
Oh lord, thy judgment is final.

A piece of iron, in temple, is your image.
And at the right temperature, it melts
the same way a butchers tool or a cage
even though, for each, its own purpose awaits.

Waiting for the awakening bell
to remove from the depths of my heart, the blindness
due to which, this world today is a terrible hell
waiting for thee, I am, Oh lord, to eliminate the darkness.

For my destiny still, I search, not ease
is this pain, nor can I as of now dwell
with calm of mind, or in peace
nor can I grab it, as usually, we will.

For thy will, I wait to unfold
Oh lord, help me enclose my final destiny
The reason of my existence, for being foretold
I look on, to thee, Oh majesty.

Till then look upon not on my evil qualities
Oh lord! thy judgment is final.
--x--
Hope you liked it. This is a simple way of saying, forgive me for all sins lord till I know my purpose. Forgive me lord for not trying to know my purpose!! Ha ha!!

My Dreamz

Hello Everyone,

I am Abhishek Boinapalli. I was sort of afraid to discuss my dreams with everyone around. Why because they are absurd, because they are like dreams. I was afraid people would laugh at me. I was afraid people would call me a freak / frantic and so on.

Well not anymore. I decided to put up a mast and sail in the world of dreams. I am now ready better say willing to put efforts to achieve my goals. starting today. So I am putting up a list of all goals which I intend to achieve by my twenty fifth year.

  • Have good amount of property. Probably worth a couple of million dollars so that I need not depend on full time job for employment
  • Earn a lot of fame for myself by virtue of novels . I must have a page for myself on Wikipedia. So gonna write 250 words per day or more at all costs.
  • I must be a successful blogger.
  • Become a body builder. Six pack with fitness sufficient to join Indian Army.  I now weigh 92 kgs in a 5' 4'' frame & Join territorial army of India as officer
  • Have a cool social life & earn lot of respect from everyone in my neighborhood and my relatives.

I decided to put efforts for achieving them all. I  have created a  pledge for myself and shall keep on going. I will post it here soon. What are your goals?? Your aims?? Were you too afraid to speak about your goals at any time??

My blogging Goals

Hello Everone,

I am Abhishek Boinapalli. Cool, confident and blah blah. I am a grand failure at the A - Z blog fest, for, the month of April is gone and yet posts on K, Q, U, V, X, Y and Z are still pending.

Well, I just wanna reaffirm my commitment to blogging. I am not literally interested in working on technical  stuff like Mech / VLSI design / CAD / .. whatever of the other thousand or so categories we have. I am interested in writing, blogging, reading and all such. One day I intend to make it big in the literary world.

Well I was literally afraid to express this aim of mine to anyone till now. Not anymore. I am gonna put the best of my efforts into my dreams. I intend to work hard and keep on going to achieve my dreams.

My blogging goals for now are quite simple
  • Post at least 1 post daily on my blog.
  • Attract and retain huge traffic and keep the blog active and alive.
  • Gain at least 500 followers by the Dec 2011.
  • Earn at least $300 from blogs from Dec 2011.

Hope I put my efforts in right direction, hope you all help me out by encouraging  & hope the gods help me out. I created a pledge for myself and intend to read it everyday after I wake up and before I sleep. The pledge can be found here
